Talking Turkey with Jodie-Anne Harlow

Jodie-Anne is a Queensland mum of two, with another one on the way! In addition to raising her growing family, she is also studying full time to complete a Graduate Diploma of Psychology. Turkey helps her maximise the limited time she has in the kitchen by giving her nutritional and quick meal options!

Why do you like cooking with turkey?

Turkey is so easy to cook with and it’s low in fat too. My kids will actually eat it, and other mums with picky eaters can appreciate that! Really, we just all love the taste.

What is your favourite turkey cut?

Turkey mince is probably my favouite cut. I use it, instead of beef, to make rissoles for kids and they eat them up!

Do you have any handy tips to pass onto other Today’s Turkey readers?

My favourite winter recipe is prepared in the crockpot and we call it "Turkey Toodle." I combine 500 grams of turkey (any cut will do), 1 tin of Cream of Pumpkin soup, 1 tin of Cream of Asparagus (or Chicken and corn) and 1 tin of Cream Mushrooms, and add in some mixed veggies. Then I cook it in the slow cooker all day and serve with rice.

With our little family, that one pot lasts a few nights and on cold winter nights there is rarely a mouthful left!
