Turkey, Tomato and Basil Pizza

  • 500g Fresh Turkey Mince
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 family size pizza bases
  • 140g jar pizza sauce
  • 4 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 Spanish onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons basil leaves, shredded

Preheat conventional oven to 220°C. Heat oil in a pan over high heat. Cook mince and garlic for approximately 5 minutes, stirring well to break up mince.

Place pizza bases on lightly oiled baking trays. Spread evenly with pizza sauce and top with mince, tomato, onion, salt and pepper. Sprinkle balsamic vinegar over top and bake for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and scatter basil over top.

Serve with a green salad.

Turkey Tips

  • If you cook poultry to eat later, refrigerate while hot.
  • Use separate cutting boards and utensils when handling raw and cooked poultry. Wash these thoroughly with hot, soapy water before and after handling. Also use separate cutting boards from poultry for fruit and vegetables.
  • Defrost in the refrigerator only, not on the bench.
  • Turkey can be handled, cooked and stored in the same way as chicken. There are no special requirements in its handling.
